Pergola Installation

If the pergola with concrete posts, it must be verified that the top of them is level. Then they will install the beam or beams (usually 3 "x8" or 3 "x12" or 4 "x8" or 4 "x12") and the beam against the wall of the building (2 "x8"), as support basis of the common rafters that are placed on them in the vertical direction.

If the project envisages, the sun protector pieces of 1 "x1" are placed with a separation of 1 "between them in the perpendicular direction to the common rafters. On this grill, polycarbonate may be placed, if desired.

Depending on the characteristics of the project, are used as fasteners screws, dowels and metal fittings.

If the pergola is built with wooden posts that are in direct contact with the ground, it should make a concrete base with a metal fitting to receive the base of the pillar. Then these pieces are tied together with common girders and beams to form a single truss.

Pergola Protection

The pergola is protected with three coats of Sikkens HLS, in all their faces and heads. Normally, this application is made on site, but it can come with two coats from plant and the finishing applied touches on site.

The application is very simple. Product is used, undiluted, with a yield of 14 to 16 m2 per liter, with a brush. Between each hand application, you must wait at least 6 hours, but it depends on the temperature and humidity at the time of application.

Requirements

  • The layout of the pergola should be well defined.
  • They are installed on concrete piers, the tops of them should be level.
  • If the bases for pillars are wooden, these must be well located.
